A Billion-dollar Shave

I really liked these guys ever since they went viral 2012 with their "Our Blades Are Fucking Great" ad, that oh, btw, their CEO wrote (and was also in). Fast forward 4 years, Unilever buys DollarShaveClub for a billion dollars. I hope they don't turn it into one of those bland, brainwashed, impersonal, me-too brands that big corporations like so much.

"To Do" Boet Withe Oe French Accént

TeuxDeux is a "designy to-do app" as they dubbed themselves. With a pretty neat name, I might add.

And a neat tagline, I might keep adding. Which I started liking even more when I found out its creator is Swiss. And French-speaking people are the funniest to listen to (when they try) speaking English. Find them here. The app, not the French-speaking people.

We Drink All We Can

Slogan of the year in 1965, in the US (according to adslogans.co.uk). And one of the best beer slogans so far.

Blabla Cookies

Neat student branding & packaging project. Not really sure they had the best explanation for the name (corporate employees who chit chat during coffee breaks because they're generally not allowed to talk the rest of the day) but luckily when you eat and talk everything you say sounds like a generally indefinite blah blah so it also makes sense without the explanation. Behance project page, here.

Airblaster's Ninja Suit

I'm liking the product, I'm liking the name, I'm liking the packaging concept, not so crazy about the packaging execution.

Available on their website www.myairblaster.com.

Lust Objectified

It's been quite some time since I've last seen a slogan that 1. does the product such great justice and 2. makes you wanna buy those things even if it were just for display purposes. Inez is a 24-karat gold plated vibrator that you can buy for $13,500. Underneath, Yva is a "pleasure object" available for $2,180 while Olga is up for purchase at only $1,790. You can get the Earl plug for a mere $1,190. Not really sure why they almost all have women's names, especially since this is apparently a luxury edition of pleasure objects for both sexes. More pics and details here. Yes, they are Swedish.

Sinapseria

New courier services provider in Bucharest and a neat name to go with it. Check 'em out over here.

Made In The Future

Slogan of the month, at least. Shapeways is a business giving people the opportunity to bring their 3D prints to life and sell them online. Check them out here.

Android Cupcake To KitKat Via Eclair

Not an Android user so I guess I do have somewhat of an excuse for having completely missed this so far. But then again it's so cool, I don't. So I imagine this is the kind of tiny detail that makes people love brands: 1. naming their operating systems after popular sweets and 2. permanently changing that with every update. See a detailed review of each system's features here.

Android 1.0 Astro

Android 1.5 Cupcake

Android 1.6 Donut

Android 2.0 / 2.1 Eclair

Android 2.2 Froyo

Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Android 3 Honeycomb

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Android 4.1 Jellybean

Right now, they got to Android KitKat, a move celebrated and launched via 50 million branded bars. Read the article here. I wonder if they switch to appetizers or something when they get to Z.

m ss ng p eces

Another cool name & logo I stumbled upon. They're a small creative production company from Brooklyn. Take a look at a short presentation film about the crew.

Generic Surplus

The "Generic Man" in the tag is not a generic man. I mean he might be but actually it's the mother-brand that generated the spin-off which is Generic Surplus. Anyway, neat name for a shoe brand. Or any brand.

Replacing Luck

One of my favorite slogans, if it was some other company's. Like a stock exchange brokerage firm or some insurance guys or even some dudes teaching poker classes or something. Apparently Suunto also realized it wasn't really doing the job and switched to "Conquer new territory". Which is less memorable or interesting or anything for that matter but at least it makes sense, since they manufacture dive computers, heart rate monitors and outdoor sports instruments.

Sword & Plough

Has a really powerful and noble ring to it. Especially since their business consists of repurposing ex-military materials into civilian goods. Double thumbs up both for the name and for the  idea. Read more about them and the biblical genesis of their name, here. Or watch their Kickstarter video here.

Enjoyneering

Like "enjoyneering" better than "autoemocion". Also, this is how cabs should work. At least every now and then.

Live Richly

A selection of Citi's Live Richly campaign. And the great response from a fellow competitor.
